From Backyard to Medicine Cabinet: Local Plant for Everyday Healing

Hosted at Asclepias and More, Native Plant Nursery

10 AM - 12 PM, Saturday May 30th

What if the medicine you need is already growing around you?

Join us for a beginner-friendly herbal class held at Asclepias and More, a native plant nursery, where you’ll be surrounded by the very plants we’ll be learning from. This immersive setting offers a rare opportunity to connect with the medicinal power of plants that are deeply rooted in our local ecosystems.

In this class, we’ll focus specifically on native plants of the Southeast and their role in both personal and ecological health. You’ll learn how to recognize and work with these plants in ways that support your well-being while also honoring the land they come from.

During the class, we’ll be working with live native plants, helping you build confidence in identification and deepen your relationship with them through direct experience. Afterward, you’ll have the opportunity to purchase native plants from the nursery, so you can begin cultivating your own medicinal garden at home.

You’ll learn how to:

  • Identify a selection of common native medicinal plants

  • Understand their traditional and modern uses

  • Harvest with care and ecological awareness

  • Prepare simple remedies like teas, tinctures, and more

You’ll leave with practical skills, a deeper connection to native plants, and the inspiration to bring both healing and habitat into your own backyard.

🌿 Perfect for beginners, gardeners, nature lovers, and anyone interested in native plants and natural wellness.

Cheyenne will be a guest teacher and leader of the herbal tea ceremony for the Earth Dreams Retreat - a creative dreaming adventure in collaboration with the living world and the more-than-human relatives we share this Earth with. Along with dream teacher Valley Reed, we will plant seeds of intention through dream incubation, nurturing heartfelt visions so they can take root and grow into waking life.

Through art journaling, collage, watercolor, and creative exploration, we work with images and imagination to cultivate our dreams. Guided group dream journeys, accompanied by the drum, invite us to connect with animal allies, ancestral spirits, and the spirits of the land. Working with the elements of Earth, Air, Fire, and Water, we ground our intentions and root our dreams in place.

In a sacred space, we share dreams, create ritual, and explore ways to bring our visions to life. Like seeds planted in dark soil, our dreams are nourished through ritual, plant allies, and creative practice, allowing them to surface into waking reality through synchronicity and soulful guidance.

Together we will build a collective dreaming altar, call upon ancestral wisdom, and learn to navigate deeper layers of reality where dreams and waking life meet. From this place, we remember our role as co-creators, shaping our lives in partnership with the Earth and the wisdom of the Soul.
